Frequently asked questions
Why convert to WebP?+
WebP gives smaller files than JPEG or PNG at the same visual quality — typically 25–35% less — so pages load faster. Every modern browser supports it.
Does quality affect PNG?+
No. PNG is lossless, so the quality slider only applies to WebP and JPEG. For PNG the tool re-encodes without a quality setting.
Will it make my image larger?+
Sometimes — re-encoding an already-optimised or tiny image can add a few bytes. The tool shows the size change so you can tell, and you can lower the quality or keep the original.
Is my image uploaded?+
No. The conversion runs on a canvas in your browser with your own file; it never leaves your device.
