Password generator
Free · no sign-upCreate strong, random passwords locally — nothing is sent anywhere, it all happens in your browser.
Create strong, random passwords that are genuinely hard to crack — right in your browser. This free password generator builds a password from the character sets you choose, at the length you set, using your browser's cryptographically secure randomness. Nothing is sent anywhere: the password is generated on your device and never leaves it.
- ✓Cryptographically secure randomness (Web Crypto), not Math.random
- ✓Choose length and character sets: upper, lower, numbers, symbols
- ✓Live strength meter with an entropy estimate in bits
- ✓Option to avoid look-alike characters (0/O, 1/l)
- ✓Generated entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded
Who it's for
- Creating a unique password for a new account
- Generating a strong master password for a password manager
- Making Wi-Fi or device passwords that resist guessing
- Anyone who reuses passwords and wants to stop
How it works
- 1Set the password length with the slider.
- 2Pick the character sets you want to include.
- 3Optionally turn on “avoid look-alike characters”.
- 4Copy your password — a fresh one is a click away.
Frequently asked questions
How secure are these passwords?+
They're generated with the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues) — the same secure randomness browsers use for cryptography, not the predictable Math.random. With a good length and mixed character sets, that makes them very hard to guess or brute-force.
Is my password sent to a server?+
No. Everything happens on your device in the browser. The password is never transmitted, logged or stored anywhere by us.
How long should my password be?+
Longer is stronger. 16+ characters with mixed sets is a solid default; for important accounts use 20 or more. The strength meter shows the entropy so you can see the effect of each change.
What is entropy in bits?+
It's a measure of how unpredictable a password is — each extra bit doubles the number of possibilities. Roughly, 60 bits is okay, 75+ is strong and 100+ is very strong.
Should I use symbols?+
Yes, where the site allows them — every extra character set makes a password harder to crack. If a site rejects symbols, add a few more characters to compensate.
