Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between margin and markup?+
Margin is profit as a share of the selling price; markup is profit as a share of the cost. A 50% markup on cost is only a 33% margin on price — that's why they're easy to confuse.
How do I calculate profit margin?+
Margin = (price − cost) ÷ price × 100. Subtract cost from price to get profit, then divide by the price.
Is it free?+
Yes, completely free.
